December update: Cold food challenge!

Cold food challenge

Last January, Iqbal Nasim stood in solidarity with those who go without by giving up all hot food and drink. For one whole month, Iqbal opted to forgo some of the most basic things we all take for granted, including the coveted caffeine fix at breakfast, in raising awareness and vital funds for the winter poor. This year we would like to encourage you all to experience this too! To make it more achievable for everyone, we’re re-packaging the challenge this year to last for one week as opposed to a full month so you can easily get your family and friends signed up too! Together we will raise awareness of the plight of brothers and sisters in the UK who face this situation not out of choice, but out of circumstance, everyday. Learn more about this year’s cold food challenge.

Your Zakat at work

As Winter creeps in, NZF has processed 81 applications and distributed a total of £74,016 of Zakat funds to local Muslims in desperate need in December. We have been providing emergency support and accommodation for families and individuals who would otherwise struggle in the cold, as well as those needing assistance with electricity, heating and winter clothing. If you would like to make a difference, we are looking for volunteer caseworkers to join our team in London. Apply here.

How satisfied are you?

2016 marks a very special year for NZF. In Spring we will be celebrating five years of serving Zakat payers and recipients nationwide.  Alhamdulilah with your support we have achieved many great things. Although we regularly get feedback and share success stories with you from our recipients, we realise that we need to do more to get feedback from our Zakat payers too. Your views matter and we need to hear from you.  Over the next month we will be asking you to provide feedback on our Services for Zakat payers to help us improve and shape our services going forward. In the meantime, please do read our comprehensive introductory guide which outlines the full range of our services.
