100 workshops later
At the end of May, NZF launched a marathon of Zakat workshops which commenced during Zakat Awareness Week and has come to a conclusion this weekend. Alhamdulilah we have travelled up and down the country to deliver 100 educational workshops nationwide to enable you, the Zakat payer, to calculate and pay your Zakat with confidence. This is a phenomenal achievement for NZF in raising awareness of the third pillar. If you were unable to attend a workshop near you, watch this workshop recorded last year in East London and pay your Zakat for local distribution today.
Your Zakat at work
In the month of June, NZF received 168 new applications and distributed £94,070 of Zakat funds to local, deserving recipients. A number of applications came from refugees who are unable to access benefits due to language barriers and the lack of knowledge regarding the welfare system. They are often alone in the UK, with no funds and struggle to secure accommodation. NZF aims to assist these people to get back on their feet.
To learn more about some of the case types NZF frequently manages, listen to our latest podcast where one of our caseworkers explains the impact on vulnerable individuals not having recourse to public funds. Listen here.
An Eid to remember
Thanks to Allah and the support from all of you, we have surpassed the number of needy Muslims whom we will be supporting through Zakat al Fitr this year. With your contributions we will be able to bring joy this Eid to 150 households, ensuring our Zakat eligible brothers and sisters in the UK are not forgotten. We are no longer taking payments as we have now started the distribution process. This is to allow our beneficiaries sufficient time to prepare for the day of Eid. If you would like to make a difference, we are looking for dynamic individuals to volunteer with our distribution team after Ramadan. Find out more.
Continuing good deeds beyond Ramadan
It has been said that an indicator of the acceptance of our worship during Ramadan can be readily seen in our ability to continue and maintain good deeds for the rest of the year. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The most beloved of deeds according to Allah are the continuous ones, even if they are little." [Bukhari & Muslim]. Continue to reap rewards beyond Ramadan. If you have already paid your Zakat, visit our website and click on Regular Giving to give Sadaqah and set up a Direct Debit with NZF today.
